The bar chart provides a summary of the average hours married people spend daily in paid employment.
There two main age groups of husbands and wives (24-44 and 45-64 years old).
As seen in the legend, total number of hours includes paid work and unpaid work at home.
Men aged both 24-44 and 45-64 spend approximately seven hours per day at paid work and not more than two and a half hours daily on unpaid work at home (with men who are 24-44 spending slightly more time working at home then representatives from the older group).
As a result, younger men work about one hour more than husbands from another group do.
Conversely, women, in general, work less at paid work and more at home.
Interestingly, wives aged 24-44 work approximately the same number of hours at both places (five hours and five and a half hours at work and outside of it respectively) while the women aged 45-64 are at work almost as much time as the men of the same age.
But at unpaid work women are almost twice longer.
Overall, women from both groups on average spend the most hours in total working (11 hours).
