The European Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, Marianne Thyssen, has promised to move up a gear: there is the necessity for a change and thanks to the European Pillar of Social Rights they will meet 4 demands: better life opportunities for young people, a good balance between life and work, employing everyone’s professional skills and not lagging anybody behind.

Thyssen has made it clear that the European Commission will play its part.

However, it will be up to the member states to promote the policies that are and will be necessary.

Economic policy means social policy and vice versa, therefore the two things cannot be considered as free-standing.

The call is for everybody to work on this matter.
