Daniele Galliano’s idea, who is mayor of Bormida, a city located in the province of Savona, turned into a bombshell worldwide.

But the mayor intervened to withdraw it: “Everybody is calling us, and we have to make clear that we do not give money or a job to the ones who move here.

He announced that three council flats are available.

The mayor added he would suggest Region Liguria should create a fund for tiny municipalities so as to give a 2,000-euro bonus to those we are going to buy a flat in the deserted villages.

Bormida mayor, which is located in the province of Savona, put forward this proposal to ward off the depopulation striking his municipality, in which there are only 500 inhabitants.

However, his idea turned into a bombshell: in few days, the municipality received 17.000 applications from Italy, Europe and South America.

Foreign broadcasting stations started phoning to ask for interviews.

As his proposal was spreading on line, it turned into a lure of large profits.

As of now, he’s trying to lead this news on the right path: regarding the flats, a notification of public auction will be launched in July, but it will be addressed to those who are currently living in Italy.

While the proposal of making a contribution to those who are going to buy a flat in small villages is still in the pipeline.

If they put into effect this proposal, it would happen only in 2018.

In any case, it would be only a contribution to deal with the difficulties due to moving.

There is no work there, they cannot guarantee it.

The mayor underlined it and added that he is very sorry about hundred deluded people who maybe live in a difficult situation.
